WiFi Supports Two Different Types Of Modes

Business, Communication.

A word about wifi or wi - fi technology - wifi is the other name for wireless internet or wireless network, this name is mostly used by none technical users who just knows how to access internet wirelessly, they know pretty much nothing beyond that. However many advance users are not well aware of this terminology either, more known with, it is a name of Wifi.

WiFi is basically short form for wireless fidelity. - wifi term is written in many ways which are, wifi, wifi, wifi, wi - fi fiwi etc. Wi - Fi Alliance is pioneer in developing WiFi technology and all the hardware associated with Wifi is mostly certified by Wifi Alliance compliance. Wi - Fi was introduced by Wi - Fi alliance in 1985 it was the time when it was not used as commercially but were just set to certain organizations for testing purposes. Wifi later developed properly and than eventually lunched for public use in USA in 90' s, gradually wifi become standards for most of the computer communications in countless organizations around the world. IEEE is short form of Institute of electric and electronic engineering.

Wifi uses all the networks referring to any type of 8011 network standards which is set by IEEE. - there are lots of enhancements made in standards of 8011 and 8011a, 8011b and other dual networks. Other known standards are 8016, these are the standards for upcoming technology known to be WiMax. The latest standard of 8011 family is 8011y. There is one more known set of standards for Ethernet it is known to be IEEE 80 Growth of Wifi networks is still on going world wide this huge growth raises security issues. Increased use of Wireless network increases potentially risks of the security of the users or organization. Wifi is the most widely used network world wide and many organizations transfer their sensitive data using Wireless networks.

Wireless network carries data of every type, that can be normal data in bits of information or it can encrypted or even highly sensitive. - however if proper security measures are not adopted properly intruders can attack the network and can cause major damage to not only network but privacy of users also. WiFi security mechanism insures the certain level of data integrity and confidentiality just as wired network provides. There was a time when cables were used to network many computers together. It just keeps things very simple without much hassle and networks can be made far more easily. Hardware like routers, switches etc were, hubs required for communication between computers, but Wifi brought high tech change in communication of computers by providing wireless connectivity features. No wires are required.

There are many other features of Wireless LANs for example high speed connectivity. - wireless network keeps environment very neat and clean. Wifi provides high speed connectivity and faster communication where cables are not feasible to install for example in remote areas. WiFi supports two different types of modes. The list of the Wifi features is long some other major features included Site survey, Scalable systems, enterprise grade equipment, VPN Compatibility, Guest satisfaction, flexible authentication methods, End user mobility and easy access through Hotspots. They are known to be infrastructure and the other one is ad hoc.

Most network administrators prefer ad hoc over infrastructure mode. - in ad hoc wireless connections can be made without central device called router or access point. Ad hoc how ever have issues also. Ad hoc mode configured devices cannot disable SSID broadcast in contrast to infrastructure mode, this brings hackers into play, and using ad hoc mode it is not very difficult to prevail into the wireless network. Wifi devices connected using Ad hoc mode offers less security against unauthorized users. There are two major differences between these two modes that is the rate at which they transfer data.

Hence Ad hoc mode is considered much slower than Infrastructure mode. - wife network standard 8011g requires ad hoc mode of communication to support 11mbps bandwidth in contrast to it 54mbps data transfer is supported using infrastructure mode. Wireless based networks are increasing every where. Some cities have actually provided the entire city a wifi and turn the city into hotspot, big example in front of us is Chicago. Every organization is installing it if it was not using it before. Chicago have installed huge transmitter in shape of big size dish of Wifi which broadcast Wireless LAN radio signals through out the city. Laptops, PDAs and other, desktop computers Wireless LAN card installed devices can access the network and get high speed connectivity on move.

It provides high speed internet connectivity very cheaply. - wifi users increasing day by day therefore its hardware manufacturers are manufacturing the products on huge scale. Laptops, mother boards of, PDAs latest desktop computer are mostly come with build in wireless LAN cards. These products are easily available in market with reasonable cost. If it is not installed already in your laptop one can buy PCMCI slot wifi card to install for accessing wireless network. Now USB wifi are also available for short range but still works good. Wifi PCI cards are also widely available in market.

Intelligent routers are available in market which works to connect different devices to wireless network. - all is required to plug internet cable in ethernet or usb port to router' s appropriate port. These routers can be configured with or without PC. When internet is available to routers it can be configured using its control panel using IP 1916That' s where we can enable SSID broadcasting or disable it and perform other functions. PCs are mostly required to be used where network is huge and keeping and maintaining its integrity and stability is very important. PCs can also be attached to routers for more advance management which routers can not performs. In this modern era every one wants every thing wireless, Wifi belongs to wireless technology family.

WiMax beats Wifi technology on many bases which includes Speed at which data rate is transferred, range with which connection is made and so much more. - there are so many other wireless technologies which have evolved around the time and wifi is now taken for granted and world is now talking about much advanced and enhanced wireless network known to be wimax. Now we have to see in how much time WiMax will take over WiFi, and which technology will eventually take over WiMax. One thing is for sure latest technologies in wireless technology will keep coming and will keep getting over looked by new ones.

As The Number Of Offshore Call Centres Have Increased, So Have The Problems

Business, Communication.

Why offshore call centres can present problems for businesses and consumers - an employee working the phones at a company call centre is quite often a customer' s first contact with any business. It is extremely important that the right impression is made during this first call. Generally, a customer' s opinion of a company is formed through this initial contact.

While company call centres, customer service centres and contact centres are there to improve the customer experience, many fail to do so by ignoring processes or taking a complacent approach to customer service. - compounding the difficulties of maintaining superior customer service are off shore call centres that can be a source of customer aggravation and may even pose an increased security risk. Problems such as employees that are unfamiliar with company products and services, long wait times to reach a representative, and being transferred to the wrong person or department can damage a company' s reputation and reduce future business. It is imperative that contact centre agents be extremely knowledgeable about their employer' s products and services and have the ability to clearly relay this information to customers in a professional, and friendly manner. The off - shore contact centre employee may not have a clear understanding of the what the customer is saying due to problems with the language or cultural differences. Offshore call centres, in countries such as India, often generate a great number of dissatisfied customers.

As well, many customers that telephone a call centre do not want to talk to someone on the other side of the world. - many companies have outsourced their call centres overseas largely due to cheaper labour. They want to talk to someone that they think will relate to them and that can easily understand their problem or concern. When you take into consideration how important it is for a company to make a positive impression, saving money in this manner may not be the best choice. India is the main destination for overseas call centre work but other established offshore locations include South Africa and Ireland. Some evidence suggests that many consumers are not happy with the service they have experienced from offshore customer - service agents.

As the number of offshore call centres have increased, so have the problems. - last year in india there were instances of workers being targeted by organized crime gangs with bribes for leaking sensitive personal and financial data. Offshore call centres have been accused of higher rates of criminality, especially the flow of data across borders and differing privacy legislation. Both business and consumers have indicated that they are concerned with the level of protection afforded their personal data stored in India. After calling a call centre and identifying an issue, it becomes a larger problem when the person at the other end of the phone can' t relate due to regional differences or cannot solve the problem due to lack of contacts and solutions that are regionally based. The main problem customers experience is being caught in the loop. The large market share that Indian and offshore call centres have built up over the last decade may be starting to decline.

Regardless of where the customer call centre is located, delivering quality and consistent service to customers is the key to maintaining customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. - over the past few weeks, there have been major announcements by a couple of large british and american firms outlining their plans to reduce their use of indian call centres and to hire more in house customer service agents and outsource call centres locally in order to improve customer service and maintain quality control.

The Skills For Managing Performance In The Virtual Workplace Are The Same As The Ones You Would Use In A Traditional Office

Business, Communication.

Telecommuting and managing a virtual staff - advances in technology and cultural responses to it mean that more people want to work from home and more companies want to outsource. Opportunities for the telecommuter: comfortable work setting, less watercooler distractions, more flexible schedule, and no travel time or stress. "If you' re a virtual team leader, or anyone who, a telecommuter works with someone from a distance, you need special tools to be successful. Here are just a few examples of opportunities for companies in taking advantage of virtual workers: reduced overhead costs, higher quality workers not available locally, often higher productivity per hour.

You can either stumble along and hope for the best, or you can take steps to insure success, virtual workplace expert, says Debra Dinnocenzo, author, speaker and educator. - dinnocenzo takes the mystery out of the managing a highly productive virtual workplace by providing three important keys for success: trust: establishing trust provides a special set of challenges for people working from a distance. What are the challenges when working from a distance, and how can you be successful? When people are dispersed, we often don' t have the opportunity to get to know each other the way we do in the traditional workplace. With these qualities in place, worker and employer can build trust. We need to make a special effort to schedule time to develop three important qualities: Reliability, Integrity and Familiarity. If possible, schedule face - to - face time to get to know each other at the beginning of a project.

Despite the plethora of cutting - edge communication tools at our disposal, the lack of visual cues from our co - workers presents special challenges in the virtual workplace. - communication: when communication breaks down, trust erodes and productivity suffers. You have to be more assertive about reaching out. Pick up the phone and send thank you notes. Dont rely solely on email. Insure good communication by checking in, asking questions and soliciting input from your team members.

Be proactive about managing productivity by defining expectations and establishing check - in milestones at the very start of the project. - performance: the bottom - line is: at the end of the day, we need to deliver results. The skills for managing performance in the virtual workplace are the same as the ones you would use in a traditional office. There are unique challenges for the telecommuter who works from home. They just need to be applied differently. While everyone agrees that telecommuting offers more freedom and flexibility, it also presents a special challenge by blurring the line between our work and our personal lives.

Are you going to answer a work - related phone call at eight o' clock at night? - dinnocenzo recommends being vigilant about setting boundaries. It might be appropriate to be on - call in certain situations, but it can seriously erode your private life if you' re not careful. When aked what they truly want in their lives, most people say they wish they had an extra hour in their day. Establish expectations and boundaries at the beginning of a project or work - relationship to avoid conflict. While that' s not possible on earth, it is possible to reclaim many hours.

Decide what is truly important in your life and eliminate time - wasting, yet addictive things that aren' t important.

For Instance, One Can' T Say That Only Experienced Employee' S Worth For An Organization

Business, Communication.

Effective team building towards qualitative workplace - quality of a product or service is directly proportional to the quality of resources used. Having qualitative human resources in your organization, demands a qualitative, however workplace as well, and developing such an environment is a bit challenging.

When it comes to discuss human resources, it becomes more crucial, as efficient human resources can make better use of other resources, i. e. economic and financial etc. - since challenges create more opportunities, so does it do, for both organization and individuals. This level differs within teams even. Along with diversity in demographics, social and socio, education economic statuses, the major challenge in the above context is different level of skill sets of people working in an organization. Generally there are three levels, i. e. : Experienced. Inexperienced.

Experiencing. - since organization is all about working in teams, so building efficient teams is the first and most important step towards providing human resources with a qualitative work environment. So, the above three levels of skill sets need equal care in this regard, though different amount of attention. Efficient teams ensure organizational success on one hand, and personnel development on other. For instance, one can' t say that only experienced employee' s worth for an organization. A team consisting of all experts may not be an efficient one in most of the cases, instead the right choice of resources is. All skills levels have their own importance, and work description.

Similarly, if there' s an expert and an inexperienced one, it may work for the time being but, competency level cannot be measured properly in this case, as both are extreme ends. - a team having all three levels of skill sets ensures the learning environment for each resource that helps systematic work flow resulting as increased quality of output. So, there' s a strong need of building teams with appropriate percentage of all three levels. The learning environment ensures career growth and increased quality means a lot for organization. According to researches, challenging work, career growth, being a part of team, and recognition are the major motivating factors for most of the individuals, and a qualitative workplace with effective teams provide all these at a single spot. Effective team building, is all win, in this way to win situation then. Build a workplace full of motivation and your employees will provide you with what your organization needs.

Not What Anyone Else On The Call Particularly Wants To Hear

Business, Communication.

Web conference & teleconference tips for excellence - i spend a large part of my work days web conferencing with team members around the world and many evenings i conference call with colleagues involved in internet marketing and other online business ventures. Since I spend so much time conference calling and have been doing so for at least ten years now, I know what works, what doesn' t work, what needs improvement and how anyone can be an excellent host or guest presenter with most any conference call service.

My main corporate job is a product developer for a high - tech company and my personal time is spent developing web sites and writing articles. - first i' ll address how best to utilize the audio or voice component when using teleconferencing services. Please do not under any circumstances use a bluetooth headset when on a conference call. Think landline with a quality headset as the solution when talking on the phone. The equipment used by a conference call provider is highly sensitive to the frequencies used by bluetooth equipment and words and sentences will be chopped off abruptly and is extremely annoying to the audience on the call. The next worst offender is a cell phone in interrupting the conference call equipment. This is especially important for the call host or guest presenter since this person will be the dominant speaker during the call.

If you' ve ever been on a conference call and heard high pitched squeals and squawking coming over the line you can be certain that there are folks on the call using cell phones. - if you' re the host or a presenter, please revert to a landline with a headset connected directly to the telephone. Cell phones are perfectly fine to use on a conference call if you' re not going to be speaking and the cell phone has a mute function. Voice over IP( VoIP) or digital phone service works fine, as that' s what I use in my home office. The previous generation of 4Ghz cordless phones will interfere with the WiFi or Airport frequencies and knock your WiFi gear off the air. If you use WiFi or Apples Airport gear anywhere in close proximity to your cordless telephone equipment, be certain to upgrade your cordless phones to a current 8Ghz model.

The much older 900Mhz equipment still works and won' t interfere with WiFi, it just doesn' t have the range of distance from the base station that' s available with the 8Ghz gear. - i' ve hosted calls for up to 50 - people and i' ve participated on calls that had close to 3000 - people on the conference bridge. Hosting and managing the teleconference or web conference call is of the utmost importance. When the call is in open mode, anyone can speak and everyone on the call can hear everyone else on the call. I' ve even heard the sounds of someone in a bathroom with flushing noise on an open conference call. Think multiple conversations going on at once, each person speaking over every other person speaking at the same time, kids shouting or babies crying in the background, television noise coming through the line, doors slamming, dogs barking, husbands or wives talking to the person who' s on the phone, cell phones squealing and you have a cacophonous wall of noise coming through to everyone that' s on the conference call.

Not what anyone else on the call particularly wants to hear. - this isn' t much of a problem in a daytime business environment, yet it' s a real big problem when a large portion of the participants are dialing into the call from home. The solution is obviously to keep the call in host mode so that only the host and any presenters are on the line that connects to the host function of the conference call. A rule of thumb I use whether to keep the conference call in host or open mode is the number of people dialing in and whether it' s a daytime or evening call. Daytime and more than 25, I keep it in host mode. Daytime and fewer than about 25 - callers I keep the call open.

Evening calls with more than about 12 - callers, host mode only. - as more and more people join the call, the noise problem described above rapidly escalates and the call starts out with almost everyone on the call annoyed and agitated by the noise factor. A tactic that' s used on marketing focused calls is to keep the call open while people are signing on and announcing where they' re from to generate excitement and enthusiasm. Here' s a simple solution: when the call is advertised, send a throw - away email address along with the invite and ask people to send an email when they' ve joined the call. The host can switch to open mode for a few seconds just before the call agenda starts and let everyone say" Hi" to provide that desired feeling of excitement, and this should, community and participation last no longer than about 5 - seconds. This way the host can keep the call in host mode and announce and welcome people as they join the conference.

Anything longer and the noise agitation factor comes back into play. - if the conference call is opened up for questions, typically more than one person attempts to ask a question at the same time resulting in cross talk and uncomfortable silences when everyone waits for everyone else to ask their question first. This same approach should be used for fielding questions from the call participants for the host or guest presenter. Also the wall noise factor comes into play and the questions are usually unable to be heard clearly by the audience. They can be sent to the host and if the questions are for a guest presenter in another location, the host can screen the questions and only send those that are pertinent to the topic being discussed on the call. Again, the simple solution is to have questions submitted via email. If the questions are sent to the guest as they arrive while they' re speaking, the guest speaker or host will have an opportunity to see the questions that need to be answered and a bit of mental preparation can be done in the back of their mind before answering.

All of these suggestions apply equally to a web conferencing call. - this avoids someone being blind - sided by an off - topic or inappropriate question. The obvious caveat for a web based conference call is that everyone needs to be on a high - speed DSL or cable modem, especially if there' s a web based visual presentation taking place during the call. An excellent feature that could provide an information product to either give away or sell is to capture a recording of the call. Anyone on dial - up even for a simple audio only conference call is at an extreme disadvantage and will be certainly frustrated by the poor results they experience. This is very important if the host or guest presenter is well known or is a rising expert in the topic of the call. Another option is to make the call available as a podcast, either in whole or broken up into a series.

There are software solutions that will capture audio from either a teleconference or a web conference and the audio file can be edited for clarity and made available for download. - once an mp3 file of the call is captured, then another option is to have a transcription of the call made and published as an adobe acrobat ebook. This can then be made available for free or for sale via a download link or distributed by a file transmission solution such as YouSendIt. There are services that will transcribe from mp3 files or alternatively, process the file through voice recognition software to create a word document or text file that can then be published in Acrobat. There are numerous web conferencing solutions and teleconferencing services available ranging in price from free to cheap and affordable. Any you may just have the beginnings of a web based business with these suggestions as well. Keep in mind the suggestions I' ve made here and apply them to your next conference call and you' ll be pleased with the results and the call participants will be grateful and happy.

Visit The Venue In Advance

Business, Communication.

Perfect venue - the key to a successful event - familiarity can breed boredom. With a little forethought and the help of this article you will be able to host a truly memorable event. 1) Plan ahead.

Fortunately with thousands of venues across the country there settle for the mediocre. - the first step is to plan well in advance of your event. However if you have left it late do not despair. The best venues can be very busy at peak times of the year so for peace of mind you need to book early. It is more important to know exactly what you are looking for because this will help you narrow the choices and find the perfect venue. The type of event you are hosting will completely affect your choice of venue. With such an enormous variety of venues in the country - perfect is out there. 2) What kind of event are you hosting?

It goes without saying that full scale awards ceremonies require a different venue to intimate business meetings. - dinner dances, agm' s, product launches, large exhibitions, company fun days, small exhibitions and christmas parties all need to be treated differently. Know what the event is and what you hope to achieve from it. Don' t take your staff to the same place each time! 3) What do you want to achieve from your event? If you want a basic functional venue that will simply suit your needs then opt for that. Be honest with yourself about your aims for the event.

If however you want to wow your delegates with an ostentatious display of wealth then it is important you pick your venue accordingly. 4) Know the size of your gathering. - you will not want to book out the main hall at the london aquarium if you are only expecting a few. The number of people you expect to attend is very important. Conversely you do not want to pick a venue that is too small for your delegation. Some venues even have moveable walls to accommodate the right numbers of people. 5) Location - Parking and accessibility. Many venues have flexible capacities so if you expect your numbers to fluctuate then explain this to the venue managers. Access to your venue is crucial.

Is there a railway station nearby? - is it easy to find, or well sign - posted? Are there sufficient car parking arrangements? Know your delegates because it is no good having a beautiful country venue if none of your delegates drive and the nearest railway station is miles away. 6) Budget. Are you near the Airport? Does the meeting venue fit your budget?

Be aware of any extras that need to be considered e. g. data projectors, AV equipment and lighting and find out when payment will be required. - as with everything your choice will ultimately boil down to cost. Ask about the rates on offer. This could considerably reduce your bill. Many venues offer 24 hour rates, Bed, Dinner& Breakfast rates and Day Delegate rates. It is also important to find out about the venue cancellation policy in advance just in case you are forced to withdraw. 7) Personality of venue. Try asking the following questions: Does the venue have air conditioning?

The personality of your venue is difficult to quantify nevertheless it is important. - is there natural daylight in the venue? Are refreshments provided? Is the restaurant/ bar what you' re after? Remember it' s important that you choose what' s right for your delegation. 8) Check for yourself. Visit the venue in advance. If you can.

Speak to the staff, check out bar prices and get a feel for the place. - do not despair if you do not have the time or inclination to do this yourself there are many companies that specialise in finding the perfect venue for you.
